What is a heroess anyway?
Am I making up words?
I thought I was, but it turns out heroess is an actual word first used in 1612.
I wanted a word that embodied the you inside of you. But saying “you” over and over again got confusing. So, I settled on heroine for a while. But heroine, for me, evoked very tough girl images. It was Katniss Everdeen as she fought to take down President Snow. It was Nancy Drew solving mysteries. Buffy slaying vampires. For me, the word heroine was all about the action – the actual fighting of the bad guys.
We’re going to be fighting bad guys here, too. I plan on getting you to battle with your inner gremlins and ultimately overthrow them, but there’s more to the process than just the action. The word heroine just wasn’t embodying that.
Feet pounding, heart racing, she ran full speed ahead at the wall. As soon as she was just close enough she used all of her strength to leap forward, right foot outstretched as she went flying forward. Her foot met with the stones and she immediately kicked herself off of the wall, flying backwards and hitting the creature right in its ugly head.
There was a satisfying “smack” as her foot met with its flesh.
The creature was stunned but was relentless. With outstretched arms it came at her again.
Tarot is a lot like Cry Baby. You know Cry Baby, the iconic figure Johnny Depp played in the 90’s? Yeah, tarot is just like that. Tarot has all the things that he does: a ‘bad boy’ reputation, gorgeous aesthetic, and a heart of gold. If tarot were a person, you’d soooo want to date him/her.
I know what you’re thinking, “did this chick really just compare Cry Baby to a deck of cards?”.
Why yes, yes, I did. Let me explain:
For those of you that don't remember me and only vaguely recall the chick that did some kind of writing maybe that had something to do with fairy tales possibly but maybe not?
Yes, that's me.
I rewrote fairy tales designed to inspire you to be the baddest (translation: best) version of yourself possible.
And then..... I sputtered out.
